Medicare-Market Surpasses Growth Targets and Creates 120 New Jobs in 2018
While the retail sector in Belgium is cutting many jobs, the Belgian group Medicare-Market, owner of the Medi-Market (parapharmacy) and Pharmaclic (pharmacy) brands, plans to recruit 120 people in 2018 thanks to the opening of 20 new stores.
Yvan Verougstraete, founder and CEO of Medicare-Market, continues his goal of “making the widest range of superior quality products and services accessible to as many people as possible by offering the lowest prices.”
Thanks to the complementarity of the two brands, the Medicare-Market Group meets the full spectrum of health and wellness needs while offering specialized advice, extended opening hours, and the lowest prices on the market.
The year 2018 will mark an acceleration of growth for the group with the expansion of its commercial network (through 37 openings) and the development of online sales to build an integrated multichannel offer and increase its market share in parapharmacy. Becoming the leader in pharmacy and parapharmacy in Belgium by 2020 is the goal set by Yvan Verougstraete for the group.
By the numbers: in 2017, approximately 6,000 customers visited the 23 stores daily. The webshops recorded 8.6 million page views. The turnover reached €51 million, supported by 200 employees and backing from Belgian private and public investors
